Simplicity, Patience, Compassion

It's always important to remember that wisdom traditions are pragmatic ie teach methods that, through direct experience, are known to work. Follow the suggestions that sound reasonable. If they work for you, do more of the same; if they don't work for you, put them aside for now (but come back & try them again later ...).

I have just three things to teach:
Simplicity, Patience, Compassion.
These three are your greatest treasures.

Simple in actions and thoughts,
you return to the source of being.

Patient with both friends and enemies,
you accord with the way things are.

Compassionate toward yourself,
you reconcile all beings in the world.                 Tao de Ching
